LABORATORIES AND GUIDED TOURS FOR JUNIOR DESIGNERS

The laboratories at the Franco Albini Foundation guide children to approach Design by following the rigorous Method of the great architect: scomposition and segmentation, constant verification of an initial idea, attention to detail and sense of belonging to society. What does designing and creating something that wasn’t there before mean? We’ll help children develop creative thought, basing it on the designer’s model, steering to identify one’s objectives, explore opportunities, come up with solutions and improve them through time. We’ll reflect on the importance of removing what’s unnecessary and lastly we’ll teach social responsibility elaborating projects in co-creation that can be useful to others.

TRASFORMING DARKNESS

6-10 years / 11-13 years

Design is the art of transformation and is, like all the arts, a useful tool to sublimate emotions in a concrete piece of work.

Based on the messages contained in Albini’s works, we’ll guide children design a lighting object starting from the need to light up a fear.

OBJECTIVE: help children identify and observe their fears from a different point of view, transforming them in a precious opportunity to grow and develop their creativity.

DEVELOPMENT
– Welcome to Albini’s world: introduction to the theme of the day
– Introduction of the Mitragliera Lamp (1938), as a concrete example of transformation from a firearm to a symbol of peace
– Design of a lamp tailor-made for kids capable of lighting and transforming his fears
– Presentation of the project

THE DETAIL IS NOT A DETAIL

Albini was the design Master of details. Also great architecture comes from the design of a single piece, studied, improved and then recomposed in an ensemble.

To experience this, kids will participate in a treasure hunt of the pieces belonging to one of Albini’s works, which they will then reassemble in teams. Kids will then design their own object starting from the shapes of the iconic details of Albini’s design.

OBJECTIVE: guide them comprehend the attention to detail through the game and inspire their creativity and their ability to compose the existing in their own way.

DEVELOPMENT
– Welcome to Albini’s world: introduction to the theme of the day
